The Girls' Brigade is an evangelical arm of the Church. Most of the girls joining The Brigade come from non-Christian backgrounds. The Brigade CAN and DOES provide an effective means for the Church to reach out to the girls and their families.
As a Christian movement, The Girls' Brigade is part of the Church family. Where possible, the Officers of a company affiliated to a local Church should worship in that Church and the members are encouraged to attend Sunday School / Bible Classes and Worship Services.
The Congregation as the corporate body of the Church needs to be made aware of the AIM OF THE BRIGADE and the role it plays in the MISSION of the Church. It is important that the Chaplain and the Captain take time to share with the Congregation the need to support the work of The Brigade Company through their prayers and every practical means.
School-Based Companies
Among the school-based companies, some are found in Mission Schools and some in Non-Mission Schools. Those in Non-Mission Schools need to be affiliated to Churches, the Ministers of which, have agreed to have Companies under their pastoral care. The Ministers take on the Chaplaincy of the Companies.
